South Bend, Indiana, January 9, 2015 – Sauk Village, Illinois is a community of 10,500 residents who care about their environment and the impact that inefficient lighting can have on its carbon footprint. Sauk Village will be retrofitting 508 metal halide roadway fixtures with superior American Green Technology™ (AGT) induction lamps. The switch to induction will save $5,000 per month in energy costs alone, while reducing routine maintenance to a distant memory.
This project would have been impossible without the support of the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation (ICECF) who awarded Sauk Village a $35,000 grant. The ICECF’s mission is to improve energy efficiency, advance the development of renewable energy resources and protect natural areas in communities all across Illinois.
According to Gordy Norquist, who heads up the induction business for AGT, “To further decrease the financial burden for Sauk Village, the cost of the fixtures were financed through AGT’s leasing partners. The lease will pay for the fixtures over a period of five years, resulting in no cash out of pocket for Sauk Village. They will have positive cash flow throughout the term of the lease.”
“With the help of the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation grant and the wonderful cost savings we will achieve by using the induction lighting system, we were able to bring an improved technology to the people and community of Sauk Village,” said Mayor David Hanks. “Some of my main objectives have been to explore cost saving initiatives and economic developments so I will be thrilled to see this project get started in the New Year.”
“There are thousands of municipalities like Sauk Village across the U.S. that may think they don’t have the resources to switch to an energy efficient solution like induction lighting, “said Danny Bogar, CEO of AGT. “But there are numerous options to try, leasing being one of them, which give cash-strapped organizations a chance to get an ROI and still remain cash flow positive while benefitting from quality induction lighting.”
AGT induction lighting is rated for 100,000 hours of continuous operation. For more information on the entire AGT product line, click here.
